About us

Little did we know, four years ago, that we will last this long. We thought if this doesn’t work, we’ve got our degrees to fall back on to. But, there is no well-paid job that will give us the amount of satisfaction and joy as Baladi does.

Being part of your daily routine & building genuine human relationships over a cup of coffee brings us such a feeling of belonging and community that brings us so much joy.

You got to do what you love in life - and we are so lucky that we get to do it with you, our wonderful Corso community! We are grateful to each and everyone of you you are important and you’ve become our bigger family thank you for making everyday of our journey a remarkable day.

We look forward to sharing the Baladi journey with you for years to come.

  • Meet Farah

Farah was born in Chatila, a refugee camp in Lebanon for Palestinians. Farah is stateless. She and her family, as all Palestinians in Lebanon, have limited access to health, education and work. UNRWA, United Nations Relief and Work Agency plays a vital role in providing basic human needs in the camp.

Farah’s mom, Elham, encouraged and enforced education as an instrumental tool to provide knowledge but also to becoming the passport to leave the camp and to seek life-changing opportunities. Farah arrived to Australia in May 2015 as a PhD student at QUT (Queensland University of Technology) with a scholarship.

While doing her PhD, she discovered her love for cooking and hosting. Cooking allowed her to reconnect with her mother and her childhood and allowed her to create friendships in Brisbane, where she met Anton.

  • Meet Anton

Anton was born in Slovakia. Growing up he heard many stories about Australia from his grandmother who had visited her son and was mesmerised by the beauty of the place and the generosity of its people. She told him about the free lemons on the streets and endless opportunities.

Anton arrived to Australia in 2006 to visit his uncle and cousins. In 2007, Anton moved to London, UK where he spent almost five years working with high-end events companies. Anton always knew that he was destined to be in Australia. So he moved back to Australia in November 2011. With his entrepreneurial personality, he ran few successful ventures.

When he met Farah in 2016, he was taken by the delicious food that she prepared and her love of feeding and nourishing people around her. While also bonding over their love for coffee, starting their baladi trailer dream materialised in July 2019.
